weekend traveler

Hello there, long time no post! Well, I took full advantage of the three day weekend and put somewhere around 450 miles on my car!
I started off my Friday night by going back to my old stomping grounds in Lincoln and paying a visit to Joyce and her gang at "The Sidetrack Tavern". If you've never been, I highly recommend it. It is THE place to be the night before a Nebraska home football game. Although slightly vulgar at times, it is the epitome of Husker Nation.
Saturday morning I met up with some friends to enjoyed a drink at embassy suites; I was sporting my Loper blue t-shirt and could easily be found in the sea of red downtown. That afternoon, I made the trek to Omaha where I tailgated with a few Maverick friends before the UNK @ UNO football game, once again I stood out in a sea of red. UNK won 32-29, Nebraska beat Western Kentucky, and the UNK volleyball team went 3-1 in tourney action down in Florida with their only loss going to the #3 team in the nation! It was a great day to be a Husker and a Loper-- lucky for me, I'm both!
3 blond Maverick fans and 1 brunette Loper!

Sunday I made my way back to Kearney and found my "Netter's ATLAS of ANATOMY for SPEECH, SWALLOWING, and HEARING" book that I ordered waiting for my in my mailbox. Nerd alert, but I cannot even explain to you how excited I am to have this book! Later that evening I went for an awesome run and witnessed the most beautiful sunset. I also made this delicious meal for myself and watched one of my all time favorite movies, "First Wives Club!"

Asian Sesame Chicken with Teriyaki sauce, vegetables, salad with Asian Toasted Sesame dressing, and milk!
Today I ventured over to Grand Island to watch my cousin show her breeding heifer at the Nebraska State Fair. Although I spent most of my time in the beef barn and show arena, I must say, from what I saw, the new fair grounds are fabulous! The livestock buildings are absolutely phenomenal, it definitely made me wish I was still able to show, oh to be young again!
